I Will Forgive You My Child
Doug Campbell

A child of ten, goes to his father, and asks if he will play,
The father says "no, I'm much too tired, I've had a weary day",
The young boy slowly turns 'round, his head hanging down,
as tears come to his eyes,
The father thinks of the day, when his daddy did say,
those same words, and he cries, "Lord forgive me!"

Chorus
I will forgive you my child, and bring you comfort in My loving arms,
I will forgive you my child, if you'll only ask me in, and give your heart to me.

A young girl walks home, her eyes show the pain, of the words she did not say,
She gave of herself, believing his love, would fill the void in her heart this way,
But deep inside her she knows, that the love he'd proposed,
wasn't love as she knew it should be,
Now knowing what she had learned, to her Father she turns,
and cries out, "Oh Daddy, forgive me!"
